Fuck me! Some bozo just ran a stop sign right into me. Looks like I’ll need a new bumper, grill, bumper support and maybe the driver side headlight.

The only part that worries my is that the other driver was Quebec lisenced and insured so I don’t know how it will work for the claim with their no fault insurance.

I better not have to pay a cent for this since I was deemed 100% innocent.

that sucks. How ever if it’s any help to make ya feel better, my mother was hit by a Canadian a few years back, it was as smooth working with their insurance as any other person from the US.

Aw crap. that sucks.

Ten years ago we were at a carwash in Kensington (127th st+142 ave nw) in my brothers nice S14;

Kinja'd!!!

He was out washing it and I was sitting in it changing cds. A little old lady in a camry across from us put her floor mats in over the pedals and when she got in and put it in reverse she flew across the washbay and smashed into us. She wiped out the back, and the car hitting the cement wall wiped out the front..

Plus we were from out of town and didn’t know our way around, she hardly spoke english so we ended up dealing with her son who she called on her cell. It was a nightmare.

We got it all sorted out but it was probably one of our most stressful afternoons.

I just called my insurance and it’s no problem at all. Everything is already in the works and the car will be going for estimate tomorrow.

Already talked to my insurance. Honestly couldn’t of been easier. They will front all the repairs which I can get started right away. Then they will go after the other drivers insurance for to get paid back.

excellent! may the quote and repairs be speedy. I got in a fender bender last monday and I wont have my buffalo back after 2300+ worth of repairs till saturday.. Who know I’d ever miss a big slow brown buffalo so much... god I miss her.. she’s technically done but apparently there’s only one person who can do the stupid ass pin stripping which apparently would have cost more to remove from the car than to get fixed on the new fender..uuugggghhhh.... what was I saying? oh yeah he’s not free till tomorrow evening...

Are the new tires safe?

Forgive my ignorance, but what’s no-fault insurance?

yes thank god! That was the very first thing that popped into my head. “Of coyrse! I just spent $1000 on my car so this will happen.” the new tires is what probably saved my ass to begin with.

It means regardless of who is responsible causing the crash. Your insurance will cover your repair only. Essentially regardless of who is at fault it will be treated as 50/50 fault or no fault.

Does that mean your rates can go up after each claim?

For them yes. But it will not apply to me in this case since with insurance it follows the law of the land and because this happened in Alberta the Alberta rules will apply and not the Quebec rules. Since I was deemed not a fault I won’t have to pay a cent. Not even the deductable.

I imagine her rates will skyrocket because of it tho.

That would suck, and it makes no sense to have no-fault insurance. Why should I be penalized if someone else hits me?

Do you know if in Quebec you can sue the other driver if the evidence puts them at fault?

Quebec is steriotypicaly know to have the worst drivers in the country. I don’t necesarilly believe it is true. But the stats don’t lie and the one that hit me was in fact a bad driver because that was an inexcusable mistake. Luckilly no one got hurt cause if I wasn’t paying attention I would of T boned her pretty damn hard and my car would of no doubt got totalled.

To answer the question. Have you ever seen those russian crash compilations? Imagine Quebec to somewhat be the same. Their insurance is also public provintially run so that might have to do something with it. Suing is NOT a common thing at all in Canada. Maybe 1 in 1000 might go to court. Here the insurance takes real good care of you in the event of a serious injury.

It’s sad that shitty drivers are sort of the norm, and not the other way around.

I have seen them. So does that mean insurance fraud used to be rampant before they switched to no fault?

I’ve found out the hard way though that even when it’s no fault insurance, like here in California, everyone should have a dash cam. Someone backed into me and his insurance won’t pay for it because it’s his word against mine and it’s more common for the person in the rear to cause the accident. It’s complete bullshit, but I learned a hard lesson.

the rest of canada blames everything on us here in quebec. i see bad drivers in every province, not just quebec.

and no insurance scams that i know of here, i only heard f shit like that in ontario.

the no fault insurance is basically a anti insurance scam.

please keep those stereo types of quebec away from oppo. you are just adding fuel to the fire for many, many ignorant people.

i’m just fed up of hearing them on oppo.

we just can’t sue people for a car accident even if it is there fault. the insurance companies will and do sue each other.
